Infosys Opens New Technology and Innovation Hub in North Carolina, U.S.

India’s leading tech company Infosys has set up a new technology and innovation hub in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The hub, inaugurated on Aug. 22, will help the firm work more closely with clients in the region to develop cross-functional solutions to business challenges in areas such as as machine learning, artificial intelligence, user experience and advanced digital technologies, including big data and cloud, Infosys said in a statement.

The new center will train, upskill and reskill employees of Infosys and its clients as per the requirements of the new age digital technology.

The Bengaluru-based firm has hired more than 4,700 Americans since Spring 2017, including nearly 500 in North Carolina, as part of its campaign to hire 10,000 Americans and accelerate the pace of innovation for American industry.

The new facility is located at 7751 Brier Creek Parkway in Raleigh.

“Supported by academic institutions in North Carolina and around the country, the hub allows us to co-locate, co-innovate and co-create alongside our clients and build on our passion for creating the next generation of top U.S. technology talent through world-class education and training,” Infosys CEO Salil Parekh stated. “We are delighted to establish our presence here in North Carolina, which is already home to a highly skilled technology workforce and strong higher education ecosystem and thank Governor Roy Cooper for his support.”

Cooper welcomed the project, saying, “I am pleased to join Infosys today at the grand opening of their Raleigh Technology and Innovation Hub.” He added that just over a year ago the firm committed to creating 2,000 high-skill, high-wage jobs in the Tar Heel State. “The company is making strong progress towards that hiring target and, perhaps even more importantly, Infosys’ commitment to workforce development is helping to create new expertise in North Carolina and prepare our workforce for the jobs of the future,” Cooper said.

According to Infosys President Ravi Kumar, the technology and innovation hub can be seen as a major stepping stone for the firm in North Carolina. The company’s continuous investment and involvement in the state has helped enhance its business in financial services, life sciences, clean technology and advanced manufacturing sectors. “We have formed strong partnerships with the state’s economic development team, which has supported our efforts to build this Hub and recruit and train the workforce of the future. Our partnerships with institutions of higher education have already helped to create a pipeline of talent for us from top universities and community colleges,” Kumar said.

Infosys has partnered with academic institutions in the state, such as the North Carolina Community College System, North Carolina State University and others, to provide a platform for young graduates and experienced professionals to explore recent findings in technology.

Infosys also said that the learning facility expands with the help of Infosys Foundation USA. In North Carolina, the foundation has provided multiple grants for classroom technology and computer science training to teachers and schools. These grants have reached 3,938 students, 102 teachers and 94 schools across the state so far.

In June this year, Infosys CEO Salil Parekh said that the firm is looking at hiring fresh graduates in the United States to boost its profit margins. Earlier this year, the tech company announced that it would train and hire 3,000 American workers at its United States Education Center in Indianapolis by 2023, according to a filing made by the company with the Bombay Stock Exchange.
