India Outpacing Global Trade Growth
Maersk Line said India’s container trade got off to a “spirited uptick” in 2018, with the first quarter achieving the best growth rate in the past two years.
The world’s largest container carrier, in a new trade analysis, said India’s imports during the January-to-March period surged 16 percent, whereas quarterly exports were up 7 percent year over year. As a result, the emerging market economy achieved a combined 11 percent growth in container trade during the first quarter.
