Indian technology services company Infosys has established a new Digital Center of Excellence in Marseille, France, the firm announced on June 19. The center will offer Infosys’ digital offerings to companies in France.

The new facility will also deliver on a strategic seven-year partnership with the container shipping organization, CMA CGM Group, the statement added. The partnership was announced in September 2017 to simplify and transform the group’s IT applications and improve its customer service experience. Infosys is already helping CMA CGM improve its execution processes and performance, using Infosys NIA, the company’s artificial intelligence platform and its scalable automation tool, AssistEdge.

The Infosys Digital Center of Excellence in Marseille will be the latest addition to the firm’s global network of centers servicing its clients’ digital requirements. The facility will initially employ 60 workers, and focus on providing its clients services in the areas of Design and User Experience, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data and Analytics.

Infosys also aims to expand its footprint in the shipping and logistics industry through the move, the company statement said. Infosys did not reveal investment details for the centre.

“The opening of our new center in Marseille will provide customers and prospects in the region access to next-generation digital technologies, skills and talent that will help them reshape what’s next,” Pravin Rao, Chief Operating Officer, Infosys, said in a statement. “This is in line with our strategy focused on scaling agile digital business, energising the core via AI and automation, reskilling employees and localising within the markets in which we operate,” he added.

To help its hiring process in the region, Infosys will partner with several universities in the region, including the Aix-Marseille University. The company will also extend its flagship global internship program, Infosys Instep, to these universities.

Infosys’ move to strengthen its footprint in France comes on the heels of the announcement made earlier this week by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), another leading Indian technology services firm, to open a new delivery center in the country. The new TCS delivery center at Suresnes, France, will employ about 230 people, the company said on June 18.
