$99 for Accent Preference

 In response to a backlash from customers turned off by the accents of tech support agents in Bangalore and other global call centers, Dell is offering a new tech support service from technicians “based in North America.”

The All American “Your Tech Team” service comes at a price – $12.95 a month or $99 a year – but promises wait times of under two minutes.

Dell spokesman Bob Kaufman told the Washington Post: “We’ve heard from customers that it’s hard to understand a particular accent and that they couldn’t understand the instructions they were getting. This illustrates Dell’s commitment to customer choice.”
According to industry estimates, companies save 50 to 75 percent by moving their call centers overseas. But customer satisfaction for overseas PC call centers is 23 percent lower than for U.S. call centers.
Now Dell has put a price tag on accent preference – $99.
