What on Earth is PUBG? Mahindra Chairman Asks After His Tractor is Spotted in Video Game
PUBG or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, one of the most popular online multimedia games, features a Mahindra 265 DI tractor.
PUBG or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, one of the most popular online multimedia games, has become a talking point among the Indian online community ever since a Mahindra tractor 265 DI was spotted at a place called Erangel. The first YouTuber to spot the tractor was Chocotaco and since then, screenshots of various players have started making rounds on the social media.
The game, which offers a unique experience of different places where the players take on other gamers across the globe, has gained popularity by providing unique user experience and high-definition graphics quality.
Indian gamers were delighted to find the Indian tractor featuring in it, and took to Twitter to post images and tag Anand Mahindra, the chairman of the Mumbai-based Mahindra Group. The billionaire businessman, however, admitted that he was embarrassed to say that he has no clue about PUBG.
He also asked Twitter users to reveal what happens to the Mahindra tractor in the game.
He posted: “Ok, I admit I’m embarrassed. I try to keep abreast of the latest happenings in the world but what on earth is PUBG? And of course I’m pleased a Mahindra tractor figures in it. What happens to the tractor, by the way?”

PUBG gained huge acceptance all across the globe within a few months of its launch, gaining a rating of 4.4 on Google play store and over a 100 million downloads in less than four months. And while the connection between PUBG and Mahindra does not seem to be a business alliance between the two, the Indians gamers were happy to find the brand in their favorite game.
Mahindra is said to be the largest selling tractor brand in the world, by volume. It has been a leading tractor maker in India for over 30 years, with a market share of over 40 percent. The brand is now present in more than 40 countries.
The $19 billion group of companies has interests in utility vehicles, information technology, financial services and vacation ownership sectors. The firm employs over 240,000 people across 100 countries.
