Indian technology services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has opened a new delivery center at Suresnes, France, the company said on June 18. The facility, located in the Parisian region, will employ about 230 people.

“The new delivery center demonstrates TCS’ ongoing commitment to France and the company’s willingness to support national brands in the French economy by offering them immediate access to TCS’ deep expertise as well as its global network,” the company said in a statement.

The new facility is the third center set up by TCS in France. The Mumbai-headquartered IT services, consulting and business solutions organization already has facilities at Lille and Poitiers in the country. The latest center will benefit from highly secure connectivity, a robust infrastructure and secure spaces, the statement added. It did not reveal the investment details of the project.

“As TCS celebrates 50 years of operations and 25 years of presence in France, the opening of this Delivery Center marks a new step in our development in this strategic market,” Rajesh Gopinathan, CEO and MD, TCS, said.

TCS first established operations in France in 1992. It acquired its then representative and exclusive partner in the region, TKS, in 2006, paving the way for the firm’s long term strategic growth in France, which is Europe’s third largest IT services market. TCS opened its first delivery center in Lille in 2012, and went on to acquire Alti SA for 75 million euros in 2013, PTI reported. The second delivery center of TCS, in Poitiers, was set up in 2014. In two years TCS doubled the number of employees at this center, the company statement said.

The company’s presence in France has received a boost over the past five years, marked by the signing of major contracts with French multinational customers. TCS and BNP Paribas Securities Services joined forces to transform the asset servicing sector with TCS’ blockchain Quartz technology. More recently, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) has also partnered with TCS to accelerate the digital transformation of its product portfolio and make these cloud-enabled, fully IP-centric and virtualized, the statement added.

Europe has emerged as one of the key markets for the company, which is looking at expanding its presence beyond the United States. Indian IT companies, including TCS, are putting in various measures to mitigate the difficulties arising from the current anti-immigrant policies in America. TCS, the biggest IT firm in India with a market capitalization of $100 billion, spent $120,000 for lobbying in the United States in the first quarter of 2018, marking an increase of $100,000 it spent during the same period in 2017, the Times of India had earlier reported.
