Taking Stock
Foreign investors pulled more than $1 billion from the Indian stock market in January as the Bombay Stock Exchange lost nearly 10
percent of its value in the new year. According to the Securities and Exchange Board of India, last year foreign investors pumped $29 billion into Indian stocks, which grew 17 percent. The Indian stock market outlook is dimming, according to financial analysts, while U.S. and European stocks are rebounding. Inflation has been rising in India and India’s Reserve Bank recently hiked interest rates.
