A Russian court has dismissed a petition to ban the Bhagvad Gita as extremist, following worldwide protests by Hindus and condemnation by the Indian government.

Prosecutors in the Siberian city of Tomsk had asked the court to declare an edition of the Gita, titled Bhagavad Gita As Its Is, published by ISKCON, popularly known as the Hare Krishnaes, “extremist,” joining a list of 1,000 banned Federal List of Extremist Materials, including Hitler’s Mein Kampf.
