Prince Of Stupidty

By

Manvendra Singh Gohil, crown prince of the erstwhile princely state of Rajpipla, who attracted international attention after publicly declaring himself gay, is hunting for true love on a British reality show.

The BBC drama The Undercover Princes follows three princes from India, South Africa and Sri Lanka who disguise themselves as commoners in Brighton in hopes of finding soulmates attracted to them instead of their money.

The Guardian concluded that the program, which plays out over a month “promised, at first, to be an early contender for the 2009 Most Egregious Misapplication of BBC Time and Resources.”

In the first episode the gay prince seems to have the best luck, declaring, “I am having an erection now!” after viewing a gay website and announcing that “I kissed a guy on his lips! Not once, but twice!”

Got to feel sorry for these princes. Only they could be stupid enough to delude themselves into believing that genuine love can be found by going undercover on TV.
