Indian Maid in Singapore Jailed for Sexual Activities with Employer’s Son
Other than sexually exploiting the boy, she had also blackmailed him by claiming to have a video recording of them engaging in sexual acts.
An Indian-origin maid in Singapore has been sentenced to 18 months jail term for performing sexual activities on her employer’s underaged son. Other than sexually exploiting the boy, she had also blackmailed him by claiming to have a video recording of them engaging in sexual acts.
According to a report in Channel News Asia, the 33-year-old woman was sentenced on Nov.22 after the court heard that she performed sexual acts on an 11-year-old boy over a period of four months in 2016. She used to sexually exploit the boy while being alone at home with him.
She was employed with the victim’s family from January 2015 to July 2016.
District Judge Ng Peng Hong found her guilty of a total of five counts including four counts of sexual exploitation and one count of causing alarm to the victim. Counts of sexual exploitation come under the Children and Young Persons Act while the fifth charge comes under the Protection from Harassment Act.
While underlining the psychological harm the maid’s actions did to the boy, Deputy Public Prosecutor Chee Ee Ling said “Rather than care for the victim which was her primary duty, she took calculated steps to sexually groom him into her pliant plaything,” reported Channel News Asia.
The court documents said that the maid started these acts by showing obscene gestures to the boy. It was also told to the court that the victim’s physical exploitation started with kisses leading up to intense sexual activities, reported the Strait Times.
Other than testifying about the sexual activities, the boy also told the court that maid started refusing to do his work and arguing after some time. She also started threatening him about an alleged video of them engaging in sexual acts.
The entire matter came to light in July 2016, when the boy told everything to his father, who called the police to hand over the accused.
However, defense lawyers urged the court to acquit the woman. They said that according to their client, boy was the one, who started behaving inappropriately toward her by performing indecent acts, reported the publication.
Jonathan Cho from Covenant Chambers, who has been one of her lawyers, told The Straits Times that she will appeal against her conviction and sentence.
The woman is currently out on bail. Her name has not been revealed to protect the identity of the victim and his family.
