An Indian physician mistakenly accused of involvement in a failed British bombing has won a court battle to return to Australia.

Mohammad Haneef was arrested in Brisbane airport on July 2 after he was mistakenly linked to a failed terrorist plot in Scotland. He was held for two weeks and his work visa revoked, even after the charges against him unraveled.

The incident sparked an international outcry with accusations of cover-up of a bungled police investigation under the previous John Howard government. Haneef returned to Bangaluru and waged a legal battle to return to Australia and have his visa reinstated.
