Indian-Americans Urge India to Provide Direct Air India Flight From Atlanta
Currently, Air India provides direct flights to India from Chicago, Los Angeles, Newark, New York, San Francisco and Washington DC in the US..
The members of the Indian-American community have urged the Indian government to start providing direct flight services of Air India from Atlanta in the U.S. so that Indian community can get better connectivity with India from this part of the U.S.
According to a PTI report, Georgia chapter of Federation of Indian-American Association put its request before Minister of State for External Affairs General (retired) V K Singh during his recent visit to the U.S. A memorandum in this regard was given to Singh on his visit.
Singh was in the U.S. last month to inaugurate “Passport Seva” projects in New York, Washington DC, and Atlanta.
Dr. Vasudev Patel, president of the association said that Singh has assured him of establishing direct flight services to India through Air Federation of Indian-American Association-Georgia India so that Indian community in Atlanta region could have convenience while traveling to India, the report added.
Patel was quoted by the news agency as saying, “He (Singh) said this is a very good suggestion and felt that the Atlanta region certainly deserves this type of service. He promised to work on it with us.”
Currently, Air India provides direct flights to India from Chicago, Los Angeles, Newark, New York, San Francisco, and Washington DC. People in Georgia are urging for direct flight services of Air India because direct flight between Atlanta and India will make this journey convenient and affordable for the travelers.
Federation of Indian-American Association-Georgia is a representing body of around 200,000 Indian immigrants living in Georgia.
