| Adam Dell, brother of Dell computer founder Michael Dell is suing Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi for custody of their one-year-old daughter Krishna, alleging in court papers that she had told him she was hoping that billionaire Teddy Forstmann “was the child’s biological father.”
The lawsuit claims that Lakshmi told Dell that she was “sexually involved with Forstmann” and Dell “during the time she became pregnant” and hoped that Forstmann was the father. It alleges that she did not put Dell’s name on the birth certificate “to minimize, if not eliminate [Dell’s] role in Krishna’s life and to install Forstmann as Krishna’s father.”
Dell’s lawyer, Bill Zabel, told the New York Post: “Adam Dell, above all else, wants to have an active and substantial role in the upbringing of his daughter with Padma Lakshmi. Unfortunately, Ms. Lakshmi has severely limited his time with their daughter and has refused to negotiate a reasonable co-parenting agreement. Mr. Dell has tried his best to avoid going to court, but Ms. Lakshmi has given him no other choice at this time.” Lakshmi’s attorney Jay D. Silverstein told People that “she is saddened and gravely disappointed that Mr. Dell has chosen a very public means of filing his petition with the court rather than doing so in a confidential or sealed manner, which is customary in cases involving a very young child.” Under an out-of-court agreement that expires Feb 20 when Krishna turns 1, Dell has visitation rights to see his daughter nine days a month. |
