Mumbai ranked second, Patna third, Chandigarh fourth and Delhi fifth in the happiness rankings.

Jaipur tops in happiness in India and Ahmedabad ranks lowest among 16 Indian cities polled by Outlook magazine.

Almost 97% of Jaipur residents described themselves as happy or very happy in the poll. By contrast, just 51% of people in Ahmedabad described themselves as happy or very happy.

Mumbai ranked second, Patna third, Chandigarh fourth and Delhi fifth in the happiness rankings.

Guwahati had the largest number of residents (9.6%) who said they were unhappy or very unhappy. It was followed by Bangalore (9.4%), Kochi (8%) and Bhubaneswar (7.6%).

The poll found that businessmen and industrialists were the happiest professions (40%), followed by doctors (39%), actors (37%), politicians (32%) and students (32%). Bureaucrats, housewives, farmers and those doing nothing ranked lowest in the happiness survey.
