Chicago-area Doctors Charged With Fraud

Doctor secured private healthcare information on scores of patients and submitted fraudulent claims.

A Chicago cardiologist is charged with bilking more than $13 million in improper reimbursements from Medicare and other insurers

 

According to prosecutors, between January 2002 and July 2007, Sushil Sheth, 49, of Burr Ridge, Ill., secured private healthcare information on scores of patients and submitted fraudulent claims totaling $8.3 million to Medicare and $5.1 millionto other insurers for costly cardiac treatment he never performed.

Prosecutors are seeking to reclaim $13.4 million and properties in Arizona and Illinois from Sheth and his wife, plus two properties each in Arizona and Illinois
