Anti-Aarakshan Chorus Gets Shriller; Punjab, UP Ban its Release
New Delhi: Prakash Jha's multi-starrer Aarakshan is in deep trouble ahead of its Friday release, with two states banning it citing law and order concerns. The film, which deals with the sensitive reservation issue, was banned by the Punjab government on Thursday, a night after the Uttar Pradesh government imposed a similar embargo. The Punjab government appointed a seven-member committee to watch the film and decide if it could be released. The committee will meet on Thursday evening and submit its report by Friday. The ban is being seen as a step to prevent a flare-up among Dalits, who have a sizeable population in the state.
