Anushka Sharma, PV Sindhu Among 65 Indians Named in Forbes’ Asia List of ’30 Under 30′

The Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia ranking this year has the highest number of Indians among the final 300, with 65 personalities from the country getting featured in the list.

Besides Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, 29, and badminton player PV Sindhu, 22, the Indians who made it to the list include Manoj Meena and Sibabrata Das, the co-founders of Atomberg Technologies, Indian national polo team captain Padmanabh Singh, and model Bhumika Arora. Also included are Swapnil Jain and Tarun Mehta of Ather Energy, Bellatrix Aerospace co-founders Rohan Ganapathy and Yashas Karanam, cricketer Smriti Mandhana, and  singer-songwriter Jubin Nautiyal, among others.

“In its third year, our annual 30 Under 30 Asia list features 300 young innovators and disruptors across 10 categories who are re-inventing their industries and driving change across this diverse region,” the publication stated.

The list represents 24 countries across Asia-Pacific, including Azerbaijan and North Korea for the first time. A total of 300 finalists were selected from thousands of online nominations.

Among the youngest on the list are 14-year-old South Korean actress Seo-Hyun Ahn; Pakistani scientist Muhammad Shaheer Niazi, 17; and Anand Chowdhary, 20, and Nishant Gadihoke, 17, the Indian co-founders of Oswald Labs.

The list included personalities from the fields of arts, entertainment and sports; finance and venture capital; media, marketing and advertising; retail and e-commerce; enterprise technology; industry, manufacturing and energy; healthcare and science; social entrepreneurs and consumer technology.

Binish Desai, the founder of Eco-Eclectic Technologies, made it to list for his dedication to make eco-friendly solutions for domestic and industrial waste by transforming them into assets.

Others from Asia included South-Korean athlete Young You, Pakistani singer Momina Mustehsan, Indonesian creative director Dian Pelangi, and vlogger Bretman Sacayanan from the Philippines.

On March 6 this year, the Forbes’ billionaires list 2018 featured 10 Indian American persons, including one woman. While Rakesh Gangwal, the co-founder of India’s IndiGo airlines, who is worth $3.3 billion, was ranked at No. 703, the second richest Indian American was named as Romesh T. Wadhwani, worth $3.1 billion, at rank 766.

The richest Indian on the list was Mukesh Ambani, ranked 19 with $40.1 billion. Among the other Indian billionaires named were Azim Premji ($18.8 billion, No. 58), and Lakshmi Mittal ($18.5 billion, No. 62).
