India-origin Man Charged for Sexual Assault on Nurse in Singapore
Indian national faces jail for allegedly molesting a nurse hired to take care of his cancer-stricken wife.
Pillai Shyam Kumar Sadashivan, a managing director of a firm based in Dubai, was convicted on Monday for molesting a private nurse who was hired to take care of his wife who is a cancer patient in Singapore.
The 47-year-old Indian national allegedly spoke about not being able to have sex with his wife in recent past because of her illness before sexually assaulting the nurse, Today Online reported.
Inappropriate Behaviour
Sadashivan had come to Singapore on a long-term visit pass with his wife for the purpose of his wife’s cancer treatment. A 25-year-old Singaporean nurse was hired to help take care of the wife.
In December last year, when his wife was asleep, Sadashivan told the nurse that “girls in Dubai provide extra services” and asked her if she is one of them. After she spurned his move, Sadashivan molested her.
Sentenced and Fined
The next day, the victim returned to care for his wife as “the company was concerned over the fulfilment of the contract”. A police report was subsequently filed.
Sadashivan is expected to be sentenced on October 5. He is currently out on bail of S$15,000. He faces up to two years in jail along with fine and caning for molestation.
