Bollywood No Match for Hollywood in Riches

Bollywood may well be the world’s largest film factory in the world, but when it comes money it cannot hold a candle to the World’s richest film machine of Hollywood.

The biggest Indian blockbuster ever Sholay (1975), starring Amitabh Bachchan raked in under $54 million in 2006 dollars. That would be considered tepid, or even a flop in Hollywood. By contrast, the biggest Hollywood film of all times, Gone With the Wind grossed 25-times much, or over $1.3 billion.

On average, Hollywood blockbusters grossed 33 times as much as
