Vandana Sikka, the wife of former Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka, has quit as the chairperson of the IT services company’s philanthropic arm, Infosys Foundation USA. She held the position for two-and-a-half years.
Her resignation email that she posted on the blogging website, Medium.com, read: “Today, I am writing this email to let you know that I have decided to move on from my role as the chairperson of Infosys Foundation USA. But as we know, a person’s passions are not bound by the entities that house us temporarily.”
She added: “I am thankful for this opportunity to be able to contribute purposefully to our communities, and to Infosys for believing in these causes and so graciously funding and supporting these efforts.”
She announced her resignation on Twitter on August 28, and posted, “Proud of 2.5 amazing yrs creating & scaling purposeful work with the team @InfyFoundation! Thx all for your support.”

According to their website, Infosys Foundation USA is a non-profit organisation based in USA, which helps students and teachers in computer sciences and innovations. The website says that the foundation “focuses on bridging the digital divide in America. It aims to give children, young adults, and workers across the United States the skills they need to become creators, and not just consumers of technology.”
With a masters degree in computer science, Vandana Sikka was invited by Infosys board to join their corporate social responsibility efforts. In an earlier interview with the Times of India, she was quoted as saying: “We looked at the CSR (corporate social responsibility) needs of America, saw the tech and innovation happening in California, and recognized the dire need for computer science education in the publication accessible to every student as part of core curriculum.”
Her resignation comes after her husband Vishal Sikka quit as the Infosys CEO on August 18. His decision came after a long-running feud with company founder Narayan Murthy. Co-founder Nandan Nilekani came back as the non-executive chairman of the company on August 24.
