A Gujarat based trader has filed a complaint with the police against two visa consultants for allegedly misusing his daughter’s passport and visa while trying to send another girl to the U.S. The matter came to light when U.S. Consulate Officials contacted him for inquiry.

Yogesh Somani (42), a trader from Shahibaug in Gujarat said in his complaint that two consultants misused his daughter’s passport and visa to send another girl to the U.S., according to a Times of India report.

He said he came to know of the fraud when the U.S. consulate officials reached his house for inquiry and told him that a girl was trying to enter the U.S. on a visa in the name of his daughter, according to the report.

Somani told police that he got in touch with a visa consultant called Kunal Jain in April 2017 to obtain Canadian visas for himself, his wife and two daughters. A month later, he submitted all the documents required for visa processing to Jain but was not able to contact him after that.

In Sept. 2017, Somani got in touch with Jain again and was asked to submit passports, which he did thinking the consultant would now start the process to get Canadian visas for Somani and his family.

But his hopes were shattered when two officers from the U.S. Consulate in Mumbai visited Somani’s home and showed him a girl’s picture to ask if she was his daughter. When he said no, they told him that a girl named Rajvi was trying to enter the United States in the name of his daughter Mahi, according to the publication.

When Somani confronted Jain he said that he had passed on all the documents to another consultant, Ravi Patel. When Somani got in touch with Patel, he assured him that he would resolve the issue, but after that both visa consultants have remained incommunicado.

Somani filed complaint against Jain and Patel with the police on charges of cheating and breach of trust.
