A reality TV show called Made in America, set to be launched by ZEE TV America, will feature six second-generation South Asian millennial women. The list of contestants includes former Miss India Southern California Priyadarshani Roy.
The English language reality program, which will be filmed in Hollywood, will be hosted by Miss America Nina Davaluri.
Reaching Second-generation South Asians
“We realized that there was a need in the marketplace that was to reach younger South Asian women who had an enormous desire to be in the glamour world,” Sameer Targe, the CEO of Zee TV America, said at the occasion.
The launch party hosted by the channel on August 2 at The Dream Hotel in Manhattan, New York City, was attended by over 200 guests, according to India West.
Grueling Challenges
The audition process for the show saw over 6,000 applicants from which six were selected. Over the next 10 weeks, viewers will see the contestants take part in an array of sessions, such as physical training, beauty and wardrobe styling, and personal talent training, along with acting classes from the prestigious New York Film Academy.
The millennial women will also be seen participating in community outreach programs, and in challenges such as Best Walk, Best Wardrobe, Best Swimwear and more.
Bollywood Movie for Winner
The format of the show involves selection of a winner after every episode, and also elimination rounds, to finally find the winner in the finale. The first Made in America winner will be announced on Zee TV on October 10.
The prizes include a chance to walk the ramp for Andre’ Aquinol Couture at New York Fashion Week, a one-year modeling contract with a top New York City modeling agency, and an acting course from the New York Film Academy.
The winner of the reality show will also get an opportunity to be cast in an upcoming Bollywood movie and a Zee TV America’s show.
“We decided to launch Made in America to give the opportunity and inspiration to these women to fulfill their dreams and create a platform for them to be able to showcase themselves,” Targe told the media.
