Several Indian American ‘Promising Young Scientists’ Named Semifinalists in Science Talent Search Competition

The Society for Science and the Public Jan. 9 announced the 300 semifinalists of the 2018 Regeneron Science Talent Search, with at least 70, or nearly 25 percent, of the high school students selected being Indian American or South Asian American.

“All of us at Society for Science and the Public and Regeneron are thrilled to congratulate this group of amazing young people, as well as the teachers and parents who have supported them every step of the way,” Maya Ajmera, society president and chief executive officer, said in a blog post.

“With each passing year, it grows only more critical for us to help open doors for this generation of future leaders,” Ajmera added. “The increasingly complex global challenges facing them appear daunting to many, but these students are ready and eager to take them on with creativity, persistence and an eye on making the world a better place,” she said.
