Pres. Barack Obama has nominated Dr Rajiv Shah as administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the country’s top foreign assistance program.
Shah, 36, earlier served as director for agricultural development at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and is presently undersecretary for Research, Education and Economics and Chief Scientist at the United States Department of Agriculture. Shah’s appointment to head the agency, which administers $20 billion in international assistance, is subject to senate approval. |
