Om Senate, Senate, Senate!

Rajan Zed became the first Hindu priest ever to deliver the opening prayer in the U.S. Senate on July 12. During the 90 second invocation, Zed sprinkled ganga jal on the podium and recited passages from the Rig Veda: “We meditate on the transcendental glory of the Deity

Supreme, who is inside the heart of the Earth, inside the life of the sky and inside the soul of the heaven. May He stimulate and illuminate our minds.”

Three protestors from a right wing Christian group who screamed “this is an abomination” were ejected from the visiting gallery.
