Exit polls from the 2008 election show that South Asians matched African Americans in their fervor for Barack Obama.
A poll released by the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund found that 93% of all South Asians voted for Obama, the highest among all Asian American groups, and almost matching the 95% support he enjoyed among African Americans. Bangladeshi voters edged out African American voters in their support for Obama with 97%. Among other South Asians, 94% of Pakistanis and 91% of Indians voted for Obama. |
