Instagram wants to get deeper into India’s hinterlands and wider user base and is working on Hindi language support.

India is Instagram’s second largest market after the U.S. and the company is constantly working on increasing its popularity in the country, the Indian Express reported.

App researcher Jane Munchen Wong was the first to find out about this and revealed it on Twitter. She also posted screenshots that show Settings page, notifications, comments as well as profile in Hindi. The app will apparently have IGTV section in Hindi as well, the Indian Express reported.

“Instagram is working on supporting Hindi as part of their growth efforts,” Wong wrote on Twitter.

According to a report in thenextweb.com, the Facebook-owned social network wants to attract more users in the country, one of the world’s fastest growing internet market. Instagram’s sister apps like Facebook and WhatsApp are already popular in the country, with India being the one of the largest markets for both of them.

By 2021, the number of Hindi users will surpass English users, Google and KPMG said a while ago. In early September, Amazon launched its Hindi site to lure India’s next 100 million online shoppers.

Hindi language support for Instagram is reportedly available for its Android app as of now, with iOS expected to follow soon. Several options including entire Settings page, notifications tab will appear in Hindi when the feature is released officially. In the screenshot shared by Wong, some labels still appear in English, suggesting the feature is under development, the Indian Express said.
