Patent registrations in India doubled last year and have risen ten fold in the past five years.
India’s controller general of patents granted a 15,261 patents in 2007-08 as against 7,539 granted in 2006-07. It has alreadyawarded 6,000 patents in the first quarter of the current year. But this is not a reflection of a rise in Indian ingenuity. Nearly 91% of the patents granted are to foreign holders. |
