| Indian software tycoon Azim Premji is donating $2 billion to fund rural education and development programs in India, making it the largest charitable donation in the country’s history.
Premji is the third richest Indian with an estimated net worth of more than $17 billion. “We believe that good education is crucial to building a just, equitable, humane and sustainable society,”Premji said. “We want to contribute significantly towards improvement of education in India, and through that towards building a better society.”
